Setting Up a Site to Use SSL

FTP Voyager Secure Edition suports the use of FTPS and SFTP for secure connections to servers. Using FTPS or SFTP provides a fully-encrypted session that hides both the username/password and critical data while in transit. To configure a site for FTPS or SFTP:

  1. Open FTP Voyager, then start the Site Profile Manager using the "Connect" button (it starts by default)
  2. Select the Site Profile to configure
  3. Press the Advanced button.
  4. In the left tree, select Security
  5. Select the secure connection mode you want to use. Your server administrator can tell you which option to use.

Configuring external IP address

After the SSL settings are added, FTP Voyager assumes the server associated with this site profile is an FTPS/SFTP enabled server. If it is not, any attempts to connect will fail until either the server is configured to allow secure connections, or you connect again using standard FTP. If the SSL connection is established, extra status messages will be displayed to confirm that SSL mode has been activated.
