The intent of this newsletter is to give you some pointers on each of our products. This newsletter discusses recent compatibility updates and spotlights a feature of Serv-U's new architecture.

FTP Voyager JV on Mac Plus Safari Support

As of Serv-U 7.2.0.0, support has been added to Serv-U for the Safari browser on both Mac and the PC. In addition, FTP Voyager JV also works on Apple computers with the new Java SE 6 update installed.

Serv-U continues to be one of the most widely accessible File Servers with broad support for multiple platforms and browsers. The Basic Web Client and FTP Voyager JV can now be accessed from:

• Internet Explorer 5.5+
• Firefox 1.0+
• Safari 3.0+

Multi-Threaded Serv-U File Server

The Serv-U 7.0 release introduced an entirely new Serv-U with a rebuilt architecture designed to take advantage of today's modern computing advances. One feature of this new architecture is the ability to leverage the availability of multiple CPUs through multiple threads.

This new feature allows Serv-U to concurrently perform multiple time consuming operations without affecting the other users logged on to the File Server. What kinds of operations are considered time consuming to a computer? A small list of the operations Serv-U performs in a separate thread follows:

• User login (for database and NT authentication)
• Accessing networked files and directories
• Deleting entire folders
• Retrieving folder size
• and much more...
