DNS4Me 5.0 Now Available

(Helenville, Wisconsin)-RhinoSoft.com announced the release of DNS4Me 5.0 today. This update to DNS4Me, a dynamic DNS service that allows Internet users with dynamic IP addresses to use domain names, adds many powerful new features.

"As Internet technology changes and improves we are making sure DNS4Me allows users to use these new features," said Douglas J. Papenthien, DNS4Me Product Manager. "DNS4Me 5.0 adds logging support, TXT record support, and a very powerful registration ID manager allowing users to purchase and maintain multiple domains without replacing their registration IDs. By adding these new features DNS4Me continues to meet the needs of advanced and novice Internet users."

The addition of logging support gives DNS4Me domain administrators a useful tool in maintaining their service. The mail server log is broken down in to three separate logs for POP3, SMTP inbound, and SMTP outbound activity. Administrators can use these logs to diagnose problems with mail client configurations as well as to monitor usage of the mail server. The web server log uses the popular IIS format which ensures it includes all popular information used by most log parsing software available. Statistics gathered from a web server log will help DNS4Me users learn more about visitors to their site so they can more effectively target their content and services to their user base.

Another exciting feature added in this release of DNS4Me is support for TXT records. TXT records can be added from the Custom DNS window in the DNS4Me application. TXT records basically store any text you wish to place in the DNS record for a domain name. In recent years, this has become a popular way to publish authentication information for your domains. A few popular uses for TXT records includes using an SPF record to define authorized senders of mail for your domain as well as storage of DomainKey information that authenticates the content of email messages coming from your domain.

Zaep 4.0 was created to provide closer integration with the MDaemon mail server by leveraging the power of the new plug-in architecture contained in MDaemon 8.0.
